Meet Grandma Willie Mae

The love, the care, the cook behind the recipes.

Hey baby. I’m Willie Mae… but my favorite people just call me Grandma.

Being from the South, I learned how to cook from some of the greats, my mom, my grandma and my aunts. Back then, we learned by watching, listening, messing up, fixing it, and doing it again. Ain’t no fancy school behind this food. Just time, love, and a whole lot of standing in the kitchen practicing.

I don’t play about my family… and I especially don’t play about my grandkids. I've always believed that cooking for people and feeding them food from the heart is part of loving them right. That’s how I was raised, and that’s what I am passing down.

Soul Food Fix is me opening up my kitchen and saying, “Come on in, baby. I’ll show you.” It's a way for me to spend quality time with my grandkids while teaching them how to feed themselves and the people they love.

Remember Grandma's kitchen is just how life should be... slow when it needed, simple when it can be, and honest all the time.

And if you mess it up? That’s alright. We’ll fix it.

Do I need to already know how to cook to follow these recipes?

No, baby. You don’t need experience. You just need patience and the willingness to try. I explain things the way they were explained to me… step by step, no rushing, and no judgment. If you need to fix something along the way, reach out to me on Facebook or by email and I'll be happy to help.

Are these recipes traditional or updated for modern kitchens?

They’re traditional at the core. That’s where the heart is. But we also share modern kitchen fixes when they make sense… shortcuts, leftover remixes, tools, and tips that help you cook without being worn out and without having waste.

What else will I find here besides recipes?

You’ll find cooking guides, leftover remixes, storage and freezing tips, kitchen essentials I actually use and more. Everything here is meant to help you feel more confident in the kitchen so we can continue to pass down our legacy through food.
